True History of The College of ’Pataphysics

A history of the College accompanied by its principal doctrinal and constitutional documents: statutes, manifestos, pronouncements of the Vice-Curators and the Testament of Sandomir, etc.

Even unconscious ’pataphysicians acknowledge that of all the sciences, exact or otherwise, history is among the most imaginary of solutions. The present history is an exception that is the rule, like all others. It is based on the following sources (but could equally have been based on others): L’Histoire du Collège de ’Pataphysique in Monitoires du Cymbalum ’Pataphysicum, I, 14 July 1985 vulg. (updated from the same in Dossier 26), La Vie du Collège published in the College reviews, a few of the internal publications of the College, and Clefs pour la Pataphysique by Roy Launoir, Seghers, 1969 (including a supplement written for the recent Argentinian edition supplied by the author). The principal bibliographic sources for the College are the Promptuaire (98 E.P.), the annual Circulaires Phynancières sent to members, and the book catalogue Collègues de ’Pataphysique issued by the Librairie Sylvain Goudemare in 1988.
